Negative emotions like fear and despair can feel as big as a mountain. They are “life suckers” that try to consume every bit of faith inside us until we are left with all these thoughts that aren’t true, but they feel true:

“This is not what I wanted my life to look like! God doesn’t care about my heart’s desires.”

“I’ve been waiting so long to see God do this good thing for me, but He isn’t doing it. Why is He saying no? He must not care about me.”

“My life is falling apart, and God isn’t going to save me.”

If negative emotions have completely overwhelmed you and life seems dark, we get it. We’ve all been there. That is a HARD place to be in, and you have our compassion.

We want to encourage you—because the darkness will not last forever! Already the light of Jesus is knocking on your door, and the heaviness is about to lift.   

The good things of God are on their way to you!

Here are two things to remember when life seems dark.

1.    Your heavenly Father loves you, and He won’t withhold His goodness from you.

When the darkness seems bigger than the light, remember what the Bible says:

For the Lord God is our sun and our shield.
    He gives us grace and glory.
The Lord will withhold no good thing
    from those who do what is right. (Ps. 84:11 NLT)

You might not have everything you are hoping for yet, but that doesn’t mean God has said no. At the right time, He will do what He promised. He will make it happen (Isa. 60:22).

2.    God’s goodness is at work in your life even when you can’t feel it.

He is the Lord our God. His goodness is seen everywhere throughout the land. (Ps. 105:7 TLB)

Psalm 105:7 is true about your entire world—from your hopes and dreams to your job, from your dating life to your family. The goodness of God is seen everywhere throughout your “land.” 

These three facts cannot be erased by darkness:

• Jesus is Lord.

• He is good.

• You will see His goodness if you don’t give up.

Take heart, beloved child of God! He is faithful, and you are going to see His goodness. His light is breaking through the darkness.
