What's Your Love Story?

Most couples can recall the story of how they met and fell in love. Whether the couple met while at school, work, church, traveling, on the Internet, through friends, or even on a blind date, each couple’s love story is special and tinged with hints of divine guidance. From dating, to engagement, to the wedding day, and then the honeymoon, our love stories are narratives we love to hear and tell again and again. You’ve probably heard relatives or couples share these precious memories. For many couples, these are the stories that cause them to stay together when times get tough. But marriage is not just about dating, or the betrothal, or even the honeymoon. You are forming an emotional and spiritual bond with your marriage partner that, if cultivated, will last a lifetime. Really, marriage is a covenant made between God, husband, and wife. Making the commitment to get married and live together for the rest of your years is a deep and profound decision. How can a person be certain they are choosing the right marriage partner? Before my husband and I started dating, that question was frequently on my mind. It’s the same question that every couple ponders when the relationship gets serious. Marriage is one of the most important decisions a person can make, and yet, most young couples are unprepared and understand little about the marriage commitment. If you’re married, how prepared were you for holy matrimony? If you’re in a relationship, do you feel prepared to take the next step towards the marriage altar?
